The Tree of Lights, displayed in Kiener Park Plaza just across the street from the Old Courthouse, is a beloved St. Louis Holiday tradition. It’s a local winter comfort, like the Shaw Park Ice Rink or St. Louis Blues’ Hockey. The Tree of Lights also features a touch of Engineering dazzle, which enables this piece of Holiday magic.
ABNA, as part of our role in the Arch Grounds Revitalization project, provided structural design to construct the foundation and anchors that currently support the Tree of Lights. The specialized foundation and recessed anchors are capable of supporting a tree up to 40’ tall. During warmer months, paver covers hide these supports. This strategic design allows for seamless transitions so that the public can enjoy the entire park year round.
ABNA is also proud to be a longstanding community partner with the Salvation Army, an annual sponsor of the Tree of Lights. For more than ten years, the Salvation Army has offered the Toy Town program to assist underprivileged families with having affordable presents for children to open on Christmas morning. This year, ABNA is a sponsor for Toy Town and our staff are volunteering to take part in this terrific program.
