IDOT Oriole Avenue Bridge over I-94/90 Kennedy Expressway & 2 CTA Tracks

Oriole Avenue is a north/south street over the I-94/90 Kennedy Expressway which carries Illinois Route 72 (Higgins Avenue) that approaches from the southeast and northwest. The superstructure required replacement to current LRFD standards; the substructure required repairs and the street lighting on the structure required replacement. ABNA’s initial scope of work included inspecting and evaluating the existing substructure, providing topographic surveys, and preparing a TS&L plan. Into this process, it was decided by IDOT to eliminate stage construction and remove the existing shoulder piers and abutments and provide a new 2 span structure. ABNA provided soil borings and an SGR and TS&L and final bridge design. In addition, ABNA provided lighting details and roadway MOT.
