With the inaugural season of St. Louis’s new Major League Soccer team, St. Louis City SC, underway our Featured Project for this issue of the ABNA Compass is “Major League Soccer Stadium Surveying & Construction Management.” To help ensure on-schedule completion of the state-of-the-art venue (now officially named CITYPARK) where St. Louis City SC plays home matches ABNA’s Land Surveying Department provided topographic and boundary surveying services, including:
- Topographic Surveying for all of the site, including utility investigations.
- ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys for the entire site comprising of approximately 35 acres in Central St. Louis.
- 2 Vacation Plats for portions of streets and alleys.
ABNA’s Construction Services Department performed a third-party inspection of steel reinforcement of Footings, Grade Beams, Pier Caps, Walls, Slab on Grade, and Slab on Deck. This work involved the inspection of the reinforcing steel, which was installed to the latest design documents and shop drawings. Any discrepancies, concerns, or recommendations were noted and included in a detailed report which was submitted to Mortenson/ Alberici/Keeley, a St. Louis MLS Stadium Joint Venture (MAKjv), within 24 hours or less after inspection. These inspections were conducted while the installation was ongoing, which allowed any concerns to be addressed early and prior to the completion of the reinforcing steel installation.
ABNA’s expertise and commitment ensured services were delivered on a very aggressive schedule despite the logistical challenges introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic. We offer special thanks to each member of ABNA’s Land Surveying Department, led by Jonathan Rowsell PLS, and each member of ABNA’s Construction Services Department, led by Raymond Bailey PE, RG, PhD, for their outstanding dedication and exceptional work on this high-profile project!
